Thank you all for your kind comments on my post from last night.
My heart is pretty tender after my second miscarriage,
and hearing about others struggling and going thru difficult situations on their way to babies grieves me deeply.
I’m grateful to have this place to spill, together with you, at our fence.
Now let’s talk food =)

Girls, we’ve got another winner from our dear Gooseberry Patch. This one will thrill especially those of you who have superfans, make a day out of THE BIG GAME, live for football/basketball/baseball season… or if that’s not you maybe it’s your husband or sister or brother or son or daughter! =)

Right off the bat (ha! I think I’m funny) you’ll see that this is a new one. The inside color sceme is striking and I love it! Check out the red text and cute background design of the content page:

So cute, right?! I loved paging thru, thinking of all the instances where I could use one of these yummy recipes. Brunch – perhaps Skillet Crumb Cake, Michigan Game-Day Oatmeal or Muffin-Tin Breakfast Quiche – on a crisp fall morning, waiting for a noon football kickoff. Stadium-size something (maybe Bacon-Potato Chowder or Coconut Crunch Pretzel Bars) to feed a crowd over for March Madness. And don’t get me started on the treats I could make for tailgating – Peanut Butter Fudge Pie, Strawberry Lemon Shortbread Bars, Malted Milk Squares, Pumpkin Torte

I’m actually salivating.

There are a TON of simple recipes that I can’t wait to make from this book. I also love that there are many without un-healthy ingredients, which makes it easy because I don’t have to make any substitutions. Here are a few that I’ll share with you this week:

Black Bean Salsa. Fresh, light, delish. And bonus – my little Boy loooooved it! He’d sort out the salsa by color then eat each pile =)

These little suckers were like a glimpse into autumn. Not overly sweet, full of pumpkin. We did a caramel drizzle on half and powdered sugar on the other half and you know what? I can’t decide which one I liked better.

This soup was savory and really simple to make! I didn’t have to go thru the work of actually stuffing the peppers – just put everything into a pot instead! A super comforting supper when you add a little piece of cornbread =)

As always, I’ll share these recipes in the coming days. But Gooseberry Patch is so sweet – they don’t want me to have all the fun, so they’ve sent a copy of Game Day Fan Fare for one of YOU! Enter using the form below. You have from tonight until Monday, April 22nd at midnight to enter. Open to US residents only.
